First Listen: Avery Stafford hungers for the “Manna”

(January 14, 2025) As a pastor, Avery Stafford knows the important role that music plays in preparing his congregation to hear the word of God. Rev. Stafford serves as the lead pastor of Common Ground Church in Beaverton, Oregon.

Stafford is also a musician who writes and sings songs of worship and praise, which means he is God’s conduit for creating an atmosphere of worship and praise. Stafford’s latest song, “Manna (Come On Down),” is the kind of song that a praise team can lead the congregation in singing, as well as a song that can set a church on fire if performed by a choir – particularly if the lead singer has a rich and soulful voice like the instrument that Rev. Stafford possesses.

“Manna (Come on Down)” has a contemporary Christian sound that incorporates elements of rock and pop into a message about going before the Lord and asking that the Holy Spirit be ushered into the room like a drenching rain.
