First Listen: AR Base warns of “Grievous Words”

(August 28, 2018) AR Base says that the message behind his latest song, “Grievous Words,” a track from his album Press On, comes from scripture and his own experience. The phrase grievous words come from the Bible, Proverbs 15:1, which states: “A gentle answer turneth away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger.” AR Base learned that lesson the hard way. “Grievous Words was inspired from my own mistakes. Saying more than need to be said. Broken friendships and that really did not need to be. And a quest for a path of peace,” he said.

AR Base also brings a deep musical background that is rooted in R&B, neo-soul and gospel. He started writing songs at the age of seven and grew into an artist who sang background for some of the top acts in R&B and gospel, including Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, Donnie McClurkin and Shirley Cesar. In a world where there seems to be so much anger, the culture often encourages the person who can clap back the quickest. However, snapping back can have deadly consequences, so the stop and think message behind “Grievous Words”  is sorely needed. Check it out.
