(November 20, 2024) Angie Stone can rightly say that she’s been a trailblazer since making her mark in the rap group The Sequence. That groundbreaking group recorded the first rap single by an all-female group. Stone has been making good music ever since, as a member of groups like Vertical Hold or as a neo-soul, Southern Soul and R&B solo artist.
Stone is noted for songs that address relationships from a spiritual, romantic, personal and communal uplift standpoint. And her latest song, “All I’m Missing” continues her probing of how we connect and miss connection with each other.
“All I’m Missing,” is a cut that blends smooth R&B with a touch of jazz, and finds Stone, along with talented collaborators Juanita Wynn and J. Brown, singing about preparing for Christmas by bringing all the holiday’s trapping into her home. However, this Christmas season is incomplete because one important element is missing: the presence of the one she loves.
Using her smooth and seductively smoking vocals, Stone pens a vocal letter to the one who is far away where she reminisces about the past Christmases the two spent together and something will be missing this year – despite all the holiday trappings – if that special someone is absent.
“All I’m Missing” is classic Angie Stone. She, Wynn and Brown puts their unique marks on the traditional story of longing to be near the one she misses on Christmas. Check out “All I’m Missing” here.
