(April 17, 2021) Eleven years ago, singer/songwriter/producer Angela Johnson was in the middle of one of her great runs as an artist, resulting in two victories at the annual SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards. Angie got the nod for Album of the Year for her disc It’s Personal, as well as Song of the Year for her sultry duet with rising vocalist Darien Dean on “All In Me.”
Now, fast forward to 2021, and “All In Me” has an all new look, courtesy of mixmaster Sol Brown. He says, “There’s something extra special about working on a duet, but even more so when it happens to be with 2 amazing vocalists – Angela Johnson and Darien. I had always been a fan of that record, so to say that I was over the moon when Angela approached me to remix this track was an understatement.”
The result of Sol’s work is a cool dance track that gives the classic single an entirely different feel. SoulTrackers may have been slow jamming to the original version, but the remix will make them want to go to the club. Angela’s response to the new look? “After working on a previous track with Sol, I felt like he was the one to breathe new life into “All In Me.” He had the right approach. He really listened to the song and created a remix that can take on a life of it’s own. He nailed it!”
Take a listen to the remix of “All In Me,” and welcome this award-winning track back to SoulTracks.
