(April 3, 2022) Fun music can have a message, and the message of “You Missed a Good Thing,” the new single from Angel Sessions, is one of moving forward, enjoying life and not allowing the dysfunctional people from the past mess up the future. Now, that’s a message you can enjoy dancing to. And “You Missed a Good Thing” is an upbeat song that finds Sessions letting her former bae know that his services are no longer required.

“You Missed a Good Thing” is a tune planted in the past as well as the present. The bouncy bass line and those rhythmic hand claps recall the late 1970s and early 1980s R&B and funk while the rap that comes midway through is a nod not only to some of the great female rappers of the past but an acknowledgement of the role that women hip-hop artists now play in pushing back against some of the less than enlightened content coming from their male counterparts.

“You Missed a Good Thing,” is one of the tracks appearing on Sessions’ recently released compilation album The Best of Angel Sessions. Sessions has had a. wide ranging career that includes gospel and R&B releases. Check out her “You Missed a Good Thing,” here.
