First Listen: Andrea René Williams will “Count It As Done”

(August 22, 2019) Through her illustrious career that includes publisher, publicist and many other talents, Andrea René Williams has twenty years of service towards some of gospel’s elite ministers, including Martha Munuzzi, Andrae Crouch and others. But this is not just a businesswoman working tirelessly behind the scenes. Williams is also an accomplished singer/songwriter/pianist, who has been mentored by respected choir directors such as Earnest Pugh and 2006 Gospel Hall of Fame recipient, Richard Smallwood.

Now adding record label CEO to her many gifts, Williams handles all the aspects of her recording sessions, beginning with her debut single “Won’t Work,” which was released earlier in 2019, showcasing her piano, instrumental arrangements and studio board work. The follow-up and latest First Listen, “Count It As Done,” reveals the vocalist delivering a simple message of exercising one’s faith to avoid leaning on burdens alone. In a pleasant change of pace from much of today’s gospel landscape, the arrangement for “Count It As Done” surrounds Williams’ soft soulful voice without relying on mass choirs or a majestic band to further reel in the listener’s attention.

From the light gust of wind that opens the track, to the pulsating hand drums, acoustic piano and strings, Williams cleverly arranges the soundtrack to compliment her message of faith. And there is more on the way as Williams plans to release her first full length, The Believe Album, in 2020. Just count it all done for God’s glory, as only Williams would desire it.
