First Listen: Newcomer Amore Jones shines on “The Lines”

(April 18, 2022) The art of the slow jam has been in full force within much of the current flow of R&B. It’s completely dominating the scene, whether coming from new-gen soul titans (The Weeknd, SZA, H.E.R.) or Silk Sonic’s soul-glo throwback crusade.

Taking a page from this revived Quiet Storm textbook is Amore Jones, a rising talent specializing in an urban contemporary R&B sound that’s ripe with midnight soul. By blending the velvety low notes of Luther Vandross and the swag of Usher, the DMV-raised singer-songwriter makes a very strong introduction on his newly-released four-song EP, In The Meantime...

After dropping the EP title cut earlier this year as his debut single, Jones is readying for next level adulation with the release of his latest. Creeping in at a very radio-friendly three minutes in song length, “The Lines” hits all the right spots, thanks to the seductive production pacing of Kei Prather and Jones’ effortless falsetto. And you definitely get a “love Jones” — no pun intended — for the steamy romance tucked inside: “Singing songs of love…I’m lost in between your lines/That’s where you will find me happily hiding in your mind.”

Check out this First Listen from Amore Jones and let us know if you’re reading between the lines.
