(May 6, 2019) Hearing 21 year old newcomer Amber Burgoyne’s soulful vocals on her debut single “I Don’t Need Your Love,” listeners may automatically reflect on Amy Winehouse, the talented but troubled singer who simply left this world too soon and with too much a future ahead.
But Burgoyne is clearly her own artist, taking the tune in a jazzy direction, alternatively scatting and grinding her way through the number, and giving listeners a small taste of a singer whose smoky, expressive vocals belie her young age.
