(December 29, 2024) Alli’ Starr’s new single “My Sagittarius” is a bit of a throwback to the 1970s and not just because the tune references her astrological sign. “My Sagittarius” is a funky and lush track that features the creative flute playing of Grammy nominated artist Marcus Anderson. Fans of 1970s era funk and soul know that the flute was a key element of many a great song.
Anderson engages in instrumental conversation with Carnell Harrell’s jazzy piano riffs and Samir Moulay’s deft strumming on the guitar, while Starr’s vocals float above it all. Starr says the track is an homage and love letter to her astrological sign. “The inspiration behind this track comes from the greatest love I’ve ever experienced – My Sagittarius. Not only is it my astrological sign, but there’s a fiery passion and magnetic drive that Sagittarians embody, drawing others to us.”
Starr notes that “My Sagittarius” finds her embarking on a new musical journey. Listeners will detect a Brazilian swag in the bass line and in the percussion. That is a part of Starr’s desire to infuse her music with bossa nova in what she calls “Bossoul.” Check out the vibes on “My Sagittarius” by Alli Starr, here.
