(October 8, 2020) Okay, he had me with the 3D Dance Academy line dancing in front of The Spirit of Detroit. Contemporary jazz flutist Alexander Zonjic is a legend in the Motor City, and he’s now back after 11 years with a brand new album (Playing It Forward) and a song that should make every Detroiter (and every honorary Detroiter around the world) take notice.
“Motor City Sway” is a breezy gem that features such notable guests as Pieces of a Dream’s James Lloyd (who also wrote and produced the song), Wayne Gerard, Brandon Rose, and teen wunderkinds Justin Lee Schultz and Jamie Leigh Shultz. Even more fun is the video, which gives a guided tour through downtown Detroit, right up to Grand Boulevard and the Motown Museum, where the dancing continues.
On this October weekend, when Mother Nature is fooling us with 70+ degree Midwest weather, “Motor City Sway” continues the illusion with a warm summer vibe, and that feels just right by us. Check it out below.
