(December 4, 2017) Back in the day, Alexander O’Neal was about as hot a singer as there was in the world, and his critical and commercial peak was his tremendous album, Hearsay, which was released 30 years ago.
For the past year or so, Alexander has been touring the world on a 30th anniversary Hearsay show. And to continue the celebration, this week he released a new album, Hearsay 30, with new versions of his classic songs.
One of the new cuts is a remake of his big duet with Cherelle, “Never Knew Love Like This,” now in a duet with London-based singer, Kristin Hosein. It is a credible job by both on a song considered a classic by many 80s soulheads, though it probably won’t replace the original version in anyone’s mind.
