(November 20, 2018) Over the years we’ve followed closely the career of incredibly talented NYC singer ABIAH, most recently raving about his LP tribute to the legendary Nina Simone on ABIAH sings NINA.
ABIAH is back with a new song for the holidays that again harkens to the phrasing of Miss Nina, as he takes the classic Christmas tune “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” in a laid back, jazzy direction. Using acoustic piano and drums as the underpinning, ABIAH gives a vocal tour de force on this gem that will make you completely reconsider the old Bing Crosby version you heard as a kid.
ABIAH tells us, “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen is one of my favorite songs. It encapsulates the meaning of the season for me. I find it to be one of the songs neglected in the vocal canon as of late and so I wanted to explore it but with my own reimagining. I hope you enjoy it.”
