Choice Cut: Walter Beasley creates a nighttime classic

Is there anything that Walter Beasley doesn’t do well? He is a legendary saxophonist with more than two dozen hit albums under his belt, and three and a half decades as a leader in the contemporary jazz world.

In addition to his adeptness on the sax, Beasley is also a truly soulful singer – a part of his game that he has shown off more in his recent recordings. However, even his longtime fans will be surprised by the beauty of his vocal performance on his newest single, a stunning cover of the Isaac Hayes classic, “Come Live With Me.”

Walter says, “When I was young, I heard this beautiful tune by Isaac Hayes. The manner in which it was delivered was so perfect that I would listen to it everyday. I remember thinking to myself, ‘One day I’m going to record this tune, because I want to feel like this one day. And I want to make someone else feel that I’m feeling like this.’”

On lushly arranged ballad, Beasley says the words that every lover wants to hear, his expressive tenor voice glimmering.

Take a moment to think about someone you love (or, if they’re with you, bring them a bit closer) and take a listen to this one. Pure romantic bliss from Walter Beasley, and our newest SoulTracks Choice Cut.
