Choice Cut: Cornell Carter and JD’s Time Machine give us the funk

jamesday-grid

(February 1, 2020) Longtime SoulTrackers certainly know the name of songwriter extraordinaire James Day. He’s been brewing up tasty music concoctions for well over a decade, working with top soul music talent in creating albums modeled after the Quincy Jones projects of the 80s.

JD’s latest work teams him with SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award winner Cornell Carter and an A-List of musicians and remixers (U-Nam, Tim Owens, Shawndell Hibbler, Kirk KC Crumpler and co-lyricist Makalani Kenyatta) on a funky jam that will surely get SoulTrackers moving in their seats.

Under the banner “JD’s Time Machine” the band has delivered yet another winning addition to the James Day discography. He tells us about the song: “Whether you have 100 dollars or a million dollars, the greatest vacations all have the same destination, your lover’s arms!  That is what OFF THE GRID is all about…time off for love…we all need to make sure we get some!”

Check out “Off The Grid” below, and welcome this supergroup to SoulTracks!
