Over the last few years, SoulTrackers have gotten to know the name Michael J. Calhoun, and they’ve responded. The Grammy Award winning Cleveland native is a world class guitarist founding member of Kinsman Dazz (later The Dazz Band) and continued with The Dazz Band through their hottest years, leaving to start both his solo career and to work with other acts.
More recently, Michael has created and worked with numerous acts including the Kinsman Dazz All Stars (which had a big hit a few years ago with the great “Soul Jam”), and has also created a strong solo career in the Gospel world, with a series of moving singles that have won him another legion of fans around the world.
This year we’ve heard new music from Michael with jazz-funk act BluDazz and singer Molotic (who also worked on “Soul Jam”). They scored earlier this year with the single, “That Body,” and now they return with Ronnie B. to issue the funk ballad, “Chillax.” This has element of classic Ohio funk in it, along with the mellow groove of the nighttime jam.
