(August 13, 2019) Back in the earliest days of SoulTracks, we discovered the music of songwriter, guitarist and producer Juewett Bostick, and we were hooked. His album It’s Not So Easy was one of our early reviews, and it was a near perfect amalgamation of jazz, soul and funk. And, given Juewett’s background, it wasn’t surprising. As a go-to musician for such luminaries as The Temptations, Sister Sledge, Nancy Wilson, Grover Washington and, particularly, producer extraordinaire Norman Connors, he had worked with the best, and was bringing that to his own music.
After a decade away, the talented Mr. Bostick is back with his ambitious release, Shades of Blu. The album is what Juewett calls “the evolution of converging forces,” taking elements of classic jazz and drenching it with R&B, an amalgamation called SoulJazz that was originated in the 1950s, but which is brought forward beautifully on Shades of Blu. There is actually nothing quite like it on the radio today.
We think SoulTrackers are going to simply LOVE this album. So we’re very excited to be offering Shades of Blu in our newest SoulTracks CD Giveaway.
