(June 24, 2026) R&B fans received an unexpected surprise this week as the Atlanta-based video series Cadillac Chronicles’ feature on Babyface led to an unexpected reunion of Face with his 80s band The Deele, for a performance (in a Cadillac, of course) of the monster hit “Two Occasions.”
The video of the performance has caught fire, and for good reason. In addition to Babyface having a tremendous solo career, he and former Deele member L.A. Reid went on to become Grammy winning songwriters and producers, a well as big time music executives. They were among the most influential music leaders of the 90s and 00s, with their fingerprints on dozens of hits from Toni Braxton to Whitney Houston to New Edition and more. But we all got to know them first as part of The Deele, and seeing them in the new video (which appears to be part live performance and part pre-recorded music) brings back some sweet memories.
