(October 10, 2024) Well, it’s that time of year again! We’re beginning to plan our 2024 SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards, the world’s leading award dedicated to independent soul music. The awards will be coming in December, but we will be getting ready and voting long before then.
And we need your help! From now until October 20, we will be accepting nominations for this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards. The Awards will be designed to honor the best of independent soul music artists and releases of the past year.
To be nominated, an artist must have released music (or had their music reach its commercial peak) between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024. And all nominees must have released their music independently (i.e., not on one of the three “major” labels or their subsidiaries).
Here are the categories, including a brand new one to honor top musicians:
Album of the Year
Song of the Year
Female Vocalist of the Year
Male Vocalist of the Year
Duo or Group of the Year
New Artist of the Year
Instrumentalist of the Year
From the nominated artists, albums and song, the SoulTracks staff will pick 12 finalists in each category. We’ll come back to SoulTrackers in late October to vote on the winners. To be eligible to receive a voting ballot, just sign up with your email address at the top of the page (we will not share your email address with anyone). The winners will be announced in December.
