Official Biography (courtesy of Tone BlacQ)
Ladies beware…the mellifluous sounds of Tone BlacQ have reached the ears of the public…and we’re all drawn in like moths to a flame. But who could resist the talents of a 26-year-old Adonis who has built his craft on the foundation of legends like Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, and Al Green. This sultry new artist and his honeyed voice credits his mother, who raised him listening to the soulful sounds of Stevie Wonder and Donnie Hathaway , from whom he has cultivated his rich, sexy, soulful style.
A middle child of 7 brothers and 3 sisters, Tone always possessed a hard-working and outgoing personality. Persuaded into singing "I’ll Make Love to You" for a junior high school performance, which was wonderfully received, Tone realized his calling in life. He went on to join a trio in high school and briefly worked under the tutelage of singing sensation Whitney Houston’s father (John) and brother (Michael). Experiencing the ins and outs of this industry, Tone eventually set out on his own, becoming partners with his brother and manager MarQ 4 Self, to write and produce songs that highlighted Tone’s tremendous abilities.
Determined to make R&B his own, Tone BlacQ is currently working on his debut album entitled BlacQ’s Book. Expected to be released in April of 2009, the album incorporates the skills of producers Easy Mo Bee (who produced tracks for many of today’s top artists: including the late great Notorious B.I.G.) and the sensational team of Pookie Samples, MarQ 4 Self and Tone BlacQ. This expectional vocalist from the Bronx feels this album possesses the raw appeal that’s missing today.
"Everything is either too rough (sounding more like Hip-Hop as oppose to rythum and blues), watered down or just doesn’t posses the vocal ability and lyrical content true R&B should. Besides, real R&B shouldn’t sound forced," ~ Tone BlacQ
Truly distinguishable from the crowd, Tone trusts that his ability to play numerous instruments, write and arrange his own lyrics and produce tracks, gives him an extra edge connecting him closely with the industry he loves. Viewing music as a mutual relationship, Tone feels this gives him a chance to express himself, not to mention, give back to others: "You can do so much with it. It sets your mood, hypes you up, and rejuvenates you". Thus fulfilling the ‘Tone BlacQ Experience’, which means (that each listener leaves satisfied); taking with them his personal mantra: "Live Life! Don’t turn down opportunity! Don’t be afraid to try!" ~ Tone BlacQ
