Best known as the powerhouse lead singer during the 1990s resurgence of Chic, Sylver Logan Sharp brought both vocal firepower and soulful finesse to a group already synonymous with dance-floor sophistication.
Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Sharp grew up immersed in music, absorbing gospel, R&B, and pop influences that would later shape her versatile style. Her big break came when she joined Chic in 1990, stepping into a legacy built by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. As the group mounted a global comeback, Sharp’s commanding voice became central to their renewed success. She fronted the international hit “Chic Mystique” and became the face—and voice—of the band for a new generation, performing on major stages around the world and reintroducing Chic’s sleek, rhythm-driven sound to global audiences.
Beyond Chic, Sharp built an impressive résumé as a touring and session vocalist, working with many great artists. As a solo artist, Sharp stepped forward with the album Place to Begin, showcasing a contemporary R&B sound rooted in classic soul traditions. She later expanded her artistic vision with The Groovement, a project that reaffirmed her love of groove-based music while highlighting her growth as a songwriter and producer. She hit #1 on the Dance charts with “All This Time.”
Separately, Sharp has shown great talent as a jewelry designer, providing custom jewelry to artists ranging from Elton John to Chaka Khan.
