Salakida is a native of Oakland,California, living in Atlanta, GA. Her talents have allowed her to travel from Alabama to South Africa and everywhere in between, writing and sharing stages with some of the most promising new names in Soul music, as well as some R&B pioneers, including Dwayne Wiggins &Tony Toni Tone, Jaguar Wright, Kenny Lattimore, N’Dambi, Tre Hardsen (Pharcyde), Blackalicious, Anthony David (Universal) PJ Morton, Algebra (Kedar Entertainment), Carol Riddick, and many more. With blissfully anthemic songs like "Good Woman" and the people’s favorite "Sick Days" Salakida has established herself as one to watch. Through her self titled debut "Salakida" we were introduced to her sound, a melodic mix of Soul-ful pop, with rock flourishes A self described "old fashioned free spirit", life, love and freedom continue as the main themes on her upcoming sophomore project "The Resurrection". The lead single from the new CD "Heart Attack", is a tale of heart break that recalls early Prince, accompanied by a hilarious yet poignant video (view it here ). Salakida’s distinctive soulful yet angelic vocals can be heard gracing the 2008 release from Los Angeles funk-soul band Stone Mecca, "Stone Mecca:First Contact: (Wu-Music Group/RZA), and on producer/guitarist Brandon A.
