Rok

Harlem-based singer Rokeem Pough was born in the mid-70s in the Bronx to a musical family. "Our dad used to make us sing when we didn’t want to go to bed at night," Rokeem says.  As a young man he formed a singing group with a sister and two brothers called Genesis, and later sang in the group Men with Power with some friends.  He also traveled around the US with Dynamic Praise and the Madison Mission Gospel Choirs.

After high school, Rok attended Oakwood College in Huntsville, AL, where he majored in music education. It was there that met Xavier O’Connor, founder of Testimony Ministries Inc.  They began working on several musical projects including the album Born 2 Sing, which was independently released in 2009.  It was a solid collection combining elements of modern and classic R&B with an unadulterated Gospel message.
