Robert Gee

Robert Gee may current hail from LA, but his smooth, soulful sound gives away his Philly roots. The youngest of six children, his talents were noticed at an early age when he received a scholarship to study classical voice at the Settlement Music School. He then joined the African-American opera company, Opera Ebony, and later hit the amateur jackpot, winning the world-famous Apollo Theater Amateur Night!

Gee has spent most of his performing career on stage in such productions as Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wiz, Ain’t Misbehavin, and Pippin, appeared in the movie The Little Richard Story, and was nominated for an NAACP Image award in 2006 for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Michael Ajakwe’s Body Language.  He also performed a supporting role with many notable singers including Luther Vandross, Vesta, Atlantic Starr, the Legendary Emotions and Teena Marie.

In early 2008, Gee broke out on his own with his debut album, All My Love.  With a significant dose of old school sounds and solid songwriting, the album became an immediate critical success.  Gee’s voice, a soulful mixture of Kool & the Gang’s J.T. Taylor and Gospel music’s J. Moss, fronted the excellent album, making it one of the most notable debuts on the soul music scene.
