Robbie Love’s musical journey began the day she was born. Growing up in a rock & roll household, Robbie is no stranger to the music industry. It wasn’t unusual for her and her brothers to go shoot billiards at the home of frontman Dennis Edwards of the Temptations, to spend weekends over Uncle Charles Wright of the Watts 103 Street Rhythm band’s house, or even get a knock on the door from Mr. Willie Hutch. Robbie’s first photo shoot was at the tender age of 4 months by Mr. Lamont Mc Lemore, one of the founding members of the acclaimed musical group The Fifth Dimension.
At two weeks old, she spent her first time in a recording studio with her mother (Ms. Mary Love) singing her hit record, “You Turn My Bitter Into Sweet”. Robbie slept through the recording session only to wake up once the music stopped. At 12, Robbie was hired to sing background vocals on her mother’s recordings “More Love & Then Some” stating that her mother taught her, “Once you’re paid to sing, you are officially a pro”. At this young age, she held a 5-octave range belting out melodies and riffs compared closely to the likes of Minnie Riperton, Chaka Khan & Aretha Franklin. Robbie credits these incredible talents as having a major influence on her musically being a close second to her mother internationally known singer, songwriter, and entertainer Ms. Mary Love, and her Aunt internationally known Jazz & Blues artist the incomparable Ms. Barbara Morrison.
From that point Robbie began singing and recording with many different songwriters & producers, one being her close friend the Grammy award-winning blues artist Keb’ Mo, Los Angeles Blues Artist L.A. Big Daddy’s 2022 release “Proud Man’s Blues” belting out the background vocals on this track, Backhouse Nation Music Composer, Producer, and Songwriter Mbaji Ridgell (Songwriter of the acclaimed Music Group The Blackbyrds songs “Falling Like Dominoes, Think Twice, and much more).
While establishing herself as a recording artist, Robbie has songs that were released in 5 different countries giving her international notoriety. In 1991, she covered the Ron Keith song “Gotta go by what you tell me” under the moniker name of “Rov’Ve” which hit the top of London’s Indies chart for 3 months and is still being played all over the world. Robbie’s voice has also graced the movie screen and can be heard singing the song “It’s Just a Shame” on two movie soundtracks, “Out in Fifty” starring Mickey Rourke & Christina Applegate & “Spent 2000” starring Jason London.
Robbie has worked all over the U.S. and the Caribbean as a live performer, working with many great musicians and entertainers. Robbie has performed live locally & internationally for many different cultures of people in nightclubs, concert stages, stadiums, cruise ships, hotel resorts, and many more. Robbie has worked with and opened for musical acts major & Indies, the likes of jazz vibraphone master Mr. Roy Ayers, R&B crooner Howard Hewitt, London-based R&B group Loose Ends, & Neo Soul artist N’Dambi just to name a few. Robbie is also a prolific songwriter with a catalog of lyrics that speak passionately to the soul about all aspects of life. Robbie is currently collaborating with established artists, musicians, and producers in the United States and worldwide.
