Nature’s Divine

Nature’s Divine was a talented but short-lived group from Detroit, produced by legendary R&B man Michael Stokes.

Consisting of band members Charles Green, Charles Woods, Duane Mitchell, Keith Fondren, Lynn Smith, Mark Mitchell, Marvin Jones, Opelton Parker, Robert Johnson, and Robert William Carter Nature’s Divine signed with Infinity Records and released their one and only album in early 1979.

The single “I Just Can’t Control Myself” was an instant classic, an Earth, Wind & Fire-influenced midtempo with plenty of horns and terrific vocals that hit the Billboard top 10, and is still a sought-after 45 all these years later.

Unfortunately, the accompanying album, In The Beginning, turned out to be the only full length release from Nature’s Divine, but deep soul music fans continue to enjoy that one album today.
