J. Tait

Detroit-based singer James Tait, a.k.a. J. Tait, is not only a native of that musical city, but grew up idolizing the legends of Motown, from the Temptations to Smokey Robinson.  Those artists also became influences for his music, as he approached the creation of music with the goal of updating classic soul sounds with modern beats.  Tait has been a background singer for such artists as Dwele and Carl Thomas, and has appeared with dozens of other artists.  He is also a songwriter, and in 2009 made the leap to create his debut EP, Things On My Mind.
