Gospel/Soul group First Creation is one of Ohio’s best kept secrets. Formed in 1989 by Jerry Boose, the talented quartet, now consisting of Boose, Jesse Coleman, Terry Thomas and Ron Hogue, has maintained a loyal following in its home region through its live performances and its two CDs releases, the most noted of which was 1995’s Will You Take A Stand. While First Creation hasn’t really taken off nationally, the group has had success in performances on the Bobby Jones Gospel TV show and a number of national and regional festivals and talent showcases.
In early 2005, the current version of First Creation released Just Don’t Want to Go Back on AMIR Records. The album was an independent Gospel hit, and was nominated for a SoulTracks Readers Choice Award. The group followed it up two years later with Nobody Like Jesus.
