Aurra

At its peak consisting of Steve Washington, Curtis Jones, Thomas Lockett, Philip Field and singer Starleana Young, Aurra had a good run in the early 80s with hits such as “Are You Single” and their biggest, “Make Up Your Mind.”  Combining strong instrumentation and a dance music underpinning, the group formed a solid following over a handful of albums between 1980-83.

Internal strife led to the premature end of the group, with Jones and Young forming Deja, which later landed the R&B hit “You and Me Tonight.”
