April 1, 2018 — Welcome to Another Groove, our series dedicated to new music that is neither pure soul nor R&B but contains elements of those genres and may delight your ears. This week we feature the track “Never Let You Go” by OMYO, a new British pop duo.
The band consists of Tom McCorkell (lead vocals) and William Edward (music & backing vocals) who met at a pub one New Year’s Eve and — likely with a Guinness in hand — challenged each other to write a song together. Since that time the band has been playing the UK music festivals and has been featured on BBC Radio and in advertising campaigns for NewLook and others. They trade in synth-driven pop with R&B undercurrents and occasional hip hop accents, all topped by Tom’s soulful and rich voice. Fans of the band Tears For Fears may especially find their sound appealing.
We feature here the band’s lovely ballad “Never Let You Go” from their just-released EP Introduction: Vol. II. Enjoy.
