July 31, 2024 – Welcome back to Another Groove, our series devoted to new music that is neither pure soul nor R&B but which contains elements of those genres and may please your ears. This week we feature the track “Orange-coloured day” by Liana Flores.
Flores is a British-Brazilian singer and songwriter who has recently released her debut full-length album, Flower of the Soul, on Verve. Her pure and ethereal voice is reminiscent of early Judy Collins, and her music is an entrancing collage of styles and textures, with jazz, bossa nova, British folk, and a touch of soul among them.
Our featured track is propelled by the delicate, circular swing and sway of a nylon-stringed guitar and captivates from its opening bars. This is an artist to watch! Enjoy.
