Another Groove: JaRon Marshall Visits The “Constellations”

April 25, 2023 – Welcome back to Another Groove, our series dedicated to new music that is neither pure soul nor R&B but which contains elements of those genres and may please your ears. This week we feature the track “Constellations” by JaRon Marshall.

Marshall is an Austin-based composer, producer, DJ and keyboardist for the Black Pumas, a Grammy-nominated, psychedelic soul band. His recordings as a solo artist lean toward instrumental soul/jazz with hip hop accents and considerable groove.  Our featured track, the lead single from Marshall’s newly-released, debut full-length album Earth Sounds, is a veritable locomotive of glorious harmonic movement: drummer Michael Longoria snaps his snare and high-hat like a piston while guitarist Paul Grant and saxman Brian Donohoe overlay exquisite solos and textures. Fans of Grover Washington, Jr. may especially feel this music. Highly Recommended!
