Album of the Month: Plunky and Oneness wow us with “Afroclectic”

plunky

J. Plunky Branch, known in the music world simply as “Plunky,” has lived the life of several musical stars. The Richmond based saxman has been a pioneer in bringing African rhythms to soul and jazz music for four decades. Add to that his time working with jazz legends ranging from Ornette Coleman to Pharaoh Sanders to Sun Ra, as well as his leading work in the DC GoGo scene, and you have a musical history that makes your jaw drop.

Plunky is back with new music and his band Oneness, and it is scorching hot. Afroclectic is a tasty mixture of all the sounds that have made Plunky special, and the resulting disc should be on the minds of R&B, jazz and funk fans.

We are proud to present Afroclectic as our new SoulTracks Album of the Month. It is an incredible collection that has jamming in our seats. We know that SoulTrackers are going to dig it too. Check out Afroclectic below and tell us what you think!
