Blues singer supreme Shor’ty Billups was already a stage veteran as a teenager. By age 15 he was singing and dancing at U.S.O. performances for troops.

The Connecticut native, who was born way back in 1932, served in the Korean War and returned to begin a career as a renowned bluesman.

Billups received the Boston Blues Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004, and has won over generations of music fans.
