(July 17, 2023) SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Award nominee Sargent Tucker has been a very busy man over the past year. He has issued several great singles, and received quite a reception around the world.
One of his most important projects was recovering the masters from his 2014 album Simply Sargent Tucker, which has been sadly unavailable for several years. He reissued the first single from that project, “I’m In Need (For Your Touch),” earlier this summer, and it shot right to the top of the London Music Radio charts. And now Sargent is delivering the second single from the project, “All The Squares.” A fun party song, “All The Squares” it’s about “being hip is being square,” with good friends just having fun together, with no drama.
We’ve often called Sargent “Mr. Summer” because he seems to issue a fun summery treat every year, and “All The Squares” fits that bill completely. It is perfect Summer listening for 2023 – the kind of song we’ll be cranking up with some friends, enjoying the cool sounds of Sargent Tucker all over again.
