The bad news struck at the hearts of R&B fans, as Toni Braxton posted on Instagram today:

It is with the utmost regret that we inform you of the passing of our sister, Traci. Needless to say, she was a bright light, a wonderful daughter, an amazing sister, a loving mother, wife, grandmother and a respected performer. We will miss her dearly.
Traci passed this morning as the snow was falling, our angel is now a snowflake. We ask that you respect our privacy as we plan to send her home with love, celebrating her life. We are family forever.

Love,
The Braxton Family

Traci Braxton, age 50, had battled with Esophageal Cancer for some time, according to her husband, Kevin Surrat.

With her sisters Toni, Towanda, Tamar and Trina, Traci Braxton was part of one of the most talented family acts of our time. They starred together on the reality series Braxton Family Values, and occasionally recorded together.

Traci also had her own solo recording career, landing a major hit with “Last Call” in 2014. Most recently, she had a hit album with On Earth in 2018. And just last September, she appeared on the Candiace single “Stay With Me.”

In addition to her singing, Braxton was an actress who starred in the films such as Sinners Wanted (2018), All In (2019) and The Christmas Lottery (2020).

This is truly a sad day as this talented, beautiful, too young performer has passed from the scourge that is cancer. We will be praying for her family.
