First Listen: Rick Astley returns to find a “Beautiful Life”

(June 9, 2018) Back in 1987, you couldn’t walk into a store or a bar without hearing deep-voiced, red haired, 21 year old UK singer, Rick Astley, and his ubiquitous international hit, “Never Gonna Give You Up.” It was everywhere, and it thrust the unlikely young singer into a spotlight that has continued for more than three decades, with a song that has become iconic (just ask your teenage son or daughter).

Astley is still recording and performing at age 52, recently getting some internet notoriety for a fun visit to a Toronto choir. And he also has a new album of original material coming in July. The lead single and title cut, “Beautiful Life,” is self-penned by Astley and has the kind of mild dance groove that should appeal to his three plus decade fans. With a Nile Rodgers-like guitar and an upbeat sound, it all works nicely for the singer.

Check out “Beautiful Life” below and welcome back Rick Astley.
