(June 4, 2025) in the early 90s, Toby McKeehan (aka TobyMac) and CeCe Winans were key members of Grammy and Dove Award winning acts (DC Talk and BeBe & CeCe Winans) that were at the top of the Contemporary Christian and Gospel genres – each with tremendous crossover success. But by the early 2000s, each of Winans and TobyMac had started second careers as solo acts, earning more accolades as well as chart success that continues to this day.
So, with the obvious parallels in their enviable careers, it is perhaps a bit surprising that they two now-legendary artists haven’t recorded together…until now. They have just issued a duet that TobyMac calls a “dream collab,” with the brand new single, “Oh My Soul (Psalm 103).”
Written by TobyMac with Bryan Fowler, Micah Keuiper and Shawn Newby, “Oh My Soul” is lyrically a straight-up worship song (“Praise the Lord, my soul / And all that is within me /Bless His holy name/ Bless His holy name), but with a contemporary organ-and-drum-drenched arrangement that bridges the Gospel and CCM sounds that these artists brought to the show.
The vocal performances are both joyful and fun to listen to, combining to make “Oh My Soul” a win for everyone involved…including us. Check it out below.
