First Listen: Kaia Laurielle picks up the “Fragments”

(October 9, 2024) Kaia Laurielle is both a compelling singer and a visual artist. And those elements are both found in her latest music video for “Fragments,” another in her discography of songs that tell the stories of Black love.

She says that the song “Reflects the feeling of uncertainty and vulnerability you get when you pursue a love interest who isn’t right for you but you persist to seek comfort from them. Although things may feel okay in moments we can tend to ignore all the red flags.” And she accompanies the song with a stylized video that features colors and visuals that pop out at the viewer, as it shows two different elements of a couple’s relationship.

The song has the kind of neo soul vibe that would have been right at home on 90s or early 00s radio, and it sounds shockingly fresh in 2024, with a simple arrangement underlying a cool, laid back groove.

This is a nice new entry for a developing artist, and we think SoulTrackers will dig it. Check out “Fragments” below.
